Beer and cheese soup goes way back in Europe. It was brought here to the Shenandoah Valley in the 1700's, mostly from the Pennsylvania Germans who settled here. I have eaten it since I was a kid. There is a "cooked with booze" throwdown going on now so I thought I would make it. In order to make a qualifying entry I had to give it a BBQ Brethren twist, which worked out incredible. This was all of may favorite things in one bowl, it was very tasty.
The players (minus a few things)

the veggies getting happy in some butter

then came the chicken stock, beer (rogue farm- pumpkin patch ale),hot sauce, dijon mustard, worch, and S&P to taste

while that simmered I started on the bowl

I flattened out some ground sausage and draped in on the bread bowl

then trimmed out around the edge

then on the the weber which was set up indirect

while the sausage was on the smoker I added heavy cream and milk to the soup

then slowly added the cheese

the sausage and bread bowl

of course it was finished with bacon

yummy,gooey,smokey,cheesy, bacony= foody heaven
