Holy cheet, I dun need no steekin' peeez bod I moss huv de pie senor!!
Who raked the peas BTW?
Titch, that is a farkin phenomenal job on the pie and especially the filling.
I was going to do a pie, I am so out.
Unreal job!

Fabulous floater there, Titch! That little delight has heartwarming comfort written all over it. I'd luv a place at your table!

Grass fed beef is not so easy to get in my parts. At first I thought you used the hard split peas, but see that wasn't so. What a neat idea to do that with fresh ones. No kidding brother,-- I was planning on doing a sort of deviation of a shepherd's pie for my entry! :hungry:
Cottage pie.
Shep pies are made with lamb:wink::decision:which is a tasty tasty idea:grin:

Don,t get too hung up on what meat goes into a pie,
we used old steers when I was a kid because the sheep were to important to the family farm.
Wool was our main farm produce.
That was when Australia was the Wool centre of the world:wink:

Thanks Titch. Like I said, I plan on something that is going to be a bit of a deviation anyway so that I can incorporate a few other elements as well. By the way, I DO like your little pukey smiley in your signature. That's good. Actually, the Fosters I spy here has come from Canada or here in the States. Now it makes me wonder if you get Budweiser made in Australia!

G'Day Mates.

This is my official entry into the "Let's Do It Aussie Style" TD

(I also have it posted in the Q Talk section here: http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2416267#post2416267

I'm really relying on, counting on, the Aussie sense of humor with this one. This "whackadoodle" entry was inspired in part by all of what was discussed in the "non quality" thread.

I call it my "Fosters Walkabout Cowpie."

Let's introduce a few of the things that go into this making. Notice besides the all-important Fosters Premium Ale, I also have my old casette of Men At Work album. Remember them? Had me a great little Aussie style party with this one.

Okay, uh-oh... Now what's he doing. Looks like a footprint somewhat. Perhaps a thong (flip flop) print? Hmmm... for now we'll just have to wait and see. Better head out to the pit now.

A little Fosters, a little "Land Down Under" music pumped up, and now my Aussie style pitbosses. We're good to go.

Remember that thong print?

Set those crescent style biscuits of sorts aside, and get on with the saute of some onions and crimini mushrooms that will be the making of a Salisbury steak gravy.

Speaking of which, I got them Salisbury steaks, er "cowpies" grilling right over here:

Alright... in goes the Fosters and such to make the gravy while the pies soak it up.

Let's plate it up now. So we have a thong and a cowpie, with onion rich Fosters gravy to enhance flavor, and mushed potatoes at the heel, some mixed veggies with mini corns on the cob, and lastly something else which speaks to me of Australia-- the all important Kiwi fruit.

Please use this next pic as my specific entry pic

This is just a macroshot of the Salisbury steak. I had me a great ol' party-- celebrated like it was an Aussie holiday. I find the Fosters Ale is actually far more appealing to me than the beer. And I just LUV Salisbury steak, even if the way I served it seems repugnant.

In case some of you need more info on what qualifies as "Australian BBQ", check out the Aussie BBQ Forum- http://www.aussiebbq.info/forum/
In particular, I suggest you check out this sub-forum.
Game
Use for Recipes only - Rabbit, Croc, Emu, Wombat, Brown Snakes, Kangaroos etc.
Also include recipes for Galahs, Pigeons and Roadkill

It opens up so many possibilities.

Shouldn't you be DQ'ed for serving kiwis in an Aussie TD? :noidea:

In which case you would award me a Zero? Actually, thank you Gore-- you got me wondering, so I tracked down as to why, and suffered that ol' Santa Claus thinking. I grew up led to believe that was an Australian fruit. My bad!

Great looking plate, never seen Fosters premium Ale before.
Good sense of Humour.:eusa_clap

I am stunned that you have never seen the Ale, Titch. Makes me wonder what's goin' on? Hope that's not another one of my Kiwi foibles.

And Hometrckin'... That's downright funny to me with your can pic!
