Mrs Snadamo asked for a "traditional" Thanksgiving, so that's what were gonna have....so my responsibility is just to eat and drink, and that's okay.

I feel like I keep repeating myself, but last year I spent October/November in the hospital by myself, so I am looking forward to this one a little more.

I'm smoking 4 turkeys this year on the offset smoker. 3 of the 4 turkeys will be going to families in need. The last turkey will be split between my sister who won't be able to make Thanksgiving and a coworker who's family lives out of state.

I plan on doing 4 families worth of mashed potatoes and stuffing. The vegetables, buns, and deserts will be purchased/premade.

Lots of work but worth it in the end.

Wife and I cooking everything and hauling it to the folk's house.
The rest of the family is squabbling, so they're on their own.

I'm smoking a turkey breast, after brining, of course, and a small ham.
Sides are oyster dressing, hasselback potatoes, sweet potatoes, rolls, gravy, cranberry sauce and pecan pie.

Finally, Dinkle, neat, once I'm back home.

We're at the SIL's house, so dessert is what all her guests have been asked to bring. I'm trying my hand this year at a Cranberry Cheesecake. We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

However, since I can't let a Thanksgiving pass without a turkey for the Mrs and me, I'll be grilling one on the Goldens' Friday or Saturday. Small bird, 11 lbs. I can't not have leftover turkey after Thanksgiving.

Smoking a turkey Aaron Franklin style on the BGE Thursday. Will dry brine it with Naturiffic Harvest Brine tomorrow. Thinking a combo of peach and pecan wood for smoke.

Been a while since I made a chocolate chip bourbon pecan pie so making it Wednesday.

My son is coming down Wednesday evening and has request tri-tip so that's also planned.

I prefer the pooper for my birds. nice light smoke and easy operation.

I'm in charge of the bird, making the stock for the gravy and stuffing (I make those too). I will often go with another random dish like Mac and cheese or scallop potatoes but probably not this year, it's a small gathering. :becky: makes mashed taters, her cranberry sauce, deviled eggs and glazed carrots. this year willow wants plain corn so there's that and we have a friend who does the green bean casserole.

Nice!!

You definitely gave me some good ideas on side dishes.

Ice. Just ice

Nothing wrong with that. :-D

Amen bro!

Nothing wrong with just enjoying yourself after your dilemma.

Not a thing. The host wants to handle it from start to finish. I'll just eat right before I head over, then show up and pick at the sides, then go home and eat what I want.

Lol, just as you had planned. Sticking to it. :thumb:

Good on you. What Thanksgiving is all about.

What’s the story on the cassava flour bread - doing it for gluten free? I bought some cassava flour for something, which I don’t recall, and haven’t used it yet.

Substituting the flour with cassava flour since both my younger bros have colitis. They both react pretty bad to flour, dairy, sugars, grains etc. Instant inflammation and there is no cure for it. Just meds and diet but both skip meds and control it strictly with diet. Middle brother came down with it much later in life compared to my youngest who got it at 18yo. Good thing is they can eat all the protein they want.

Long story short, that's how I got introduced to cassava (among other things) and replace with flour for them. I've actually grown to like it myself and you can make some killer tortillas with them. You can eat a dozen of them and they don't fill you up like corn or flour.

doing 2 rotisserie turkeys on the double Kettle table. Should be easy enough. Had to buy a second rotisserie set up for the cook. Darn, I had to add more cooking tools to my arsenal.

Going to good Carl. I did two on my pig cooker rotisserie last year.
