SPECIAL - BBQ Brethren "Noobians vs. Veterans" Throwdown!!!

Kathy: I could definitely tell the difference as far as flavor. It seems with the ground from the butcher you could see more fat content versus the stuff I usually buy at the store.

And I'll make the burger an entry once I find that dang edit button!!! Thanks sis!

Hey, there are still signs of life on the SOS Noobian, I was beginning to wonder.

This is veteran kryptonite! Way to deliver a solid blow!

Try grinding your own beef. Wow, talk about good -- and cheap.

In fact, I believe a home-ground burger won a TD earlier this year. Who entered that? I'm pretty sure he's on the crew of the SS Farkanaut.

started off by grilling a few pieces of chicken brest. seasoned with seasoned salt garlic powder and pepper.
SANY0264.jpg
Had a couple people show up and wanted to eat so I threw a few chops on
SANY0263.jpg
put some corn in a pan with butter salt and pepper threw it on the grill the cook a little then I finished it on the stove with a little sugar to make a sweet glaze on it.
SANY0265.jpg
then I burnt the toast OOPS sorry Mr. Toast.
SANY0266.jpg
And here is my creation grilled chicken and pork chops with macaroni and tomatoes, fried sweet corn fire roasted bannana pepper and a nice cold adult beverage.

Great Cook Sir! I see the motivational tool worked. I Love you Man!

Just throwing this out here for THIS particular TD.

What If the vets are only allowed to vote for the Noob entries and vice verse? Then let the rest of the Brethren decide.

Hope I don't have to walk the plank for Mutiny though.

Arrrrrgh!

Arrrrrgh!

I like to vote for what I want to eat the most. The problem is that there's always many I want to eat the most. While trying to figure out my "most-est" sometimes I feel torn between entries I love made by brothers and sisters I know better over those I know less. I block the feeling and try really hard to make my vote just about the food. Sometimes after I've voted I want to take it back -- especially if I see one I almost voted for with a zero or a one. I love the camaraderie, smack talk, games and fun but when it comes to voting I try to honour the creative process. If we're only allowed one vote for this throwdown it's going to be really, really difficult -- I'm not looking forward to it.

3rd Official Entry into the "Noobians vs. Veterans" TD

This Official Entry is called "This Farkers Big Mac".

Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions all on a sesame seed bun.

First prepped the side -- grilled red and green peppers doused with evoo, balsamic vinegar, fresh ground black pepper and sea salt.

SIMG0001.jpg

SIMG0003.jpg

The ground beef is from neighbouring Gold-Bar Farm -- traditionally raised Red Angus beef. I added a pinch of sea salt, fresh ground pepper, cayenne, onion powder, granulated garlic, cayenne and worcestershire sauce. I also added my secret ingredient for ground beef -- the slightest touch of ground cinnamon. Never enough to actually taste cinnamon, just enough to provide harmony and richness in a way you can't name but tastes great.

SIMG0009.jpg

I made six of the skinniest little hamburger patties I could, made six out of 1 lb thinking that would be Ronald's size. Later found out online they make more like 10 out of 1 lb. of ground beef. No wonder I don't suffer from Mac attacks.

SIMG0010.jpg

Sliced a third bun to create two middles for two Big Macs.

SIMG0015.jpg

SIMG0016.jpg

Decided to "glue" the sesame seeds on the bun with honey. Eventually some fell off but it worked okay for the photos.

SIMG0018.jpg

Burgers and peppers on the grill.

SIMG0026.jpg

McDonald's recipe for special sauce is: store-bought mayonaise, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard whisked together with vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika. I didn't have sweet pickle relish so I minced a sweet pickle.

SIMG0027.jpg

Starting the build with special sauce on two layers.

SIMG0033.jpg

Now the lettuce and onion.

SIMG0035.jpg

Now the hamburger patties.

SIMG0037.jpg

Now the cheese and dill pickle slices.
SIMG0039.jpg

Crowned once.

SIMG0040.jpg

Crowned twice. Please use the photo directly below for voting purposes.

SIMG0041.jpg

And the final plate.

SIMG0049.jpg

As soon as I tasted the special sauce memories of eating Big Macs as a teenager came flooding back. The extra hamburger patty seasoning made them better than the Big Macs I've eaten. I'd make this again but with a much bigger patty and no third slice of bun -- now that would be a Big Mac!

Hope you enjoyed.

I have a couple of entries to throw in here, just have to get the pics off the camera and have some computer time. Gotta say, tonights cook was a real planet killer, you noobians had better find cover!
