A few of you that visit Woodpile may have seen a couple of my posts and know of me, but the rest of you surely have no farking clue who I am.

My name is Chris, and I love BBQ, Bacon, Beer and Boobies (not necessarily in that order). Please be kind to this noob, as I haven't really been around Q-Talk much for the last couple years or so, and I may not be well adjusted to all of the new techniques and stuff that folks are doing.

I'm a Kansas City native, so Q has always been a food I loved, but I really got bit by the BBQ Bug back around 2003 when I bought an offset smoker for the new house. Over the next couple years, I read as many BBQ Books as I could, and after searching for recipes I found that online BBQ Forum communities such as this one existed. Those forums taught me far more than the books ever did, and quickly helped me learn various techniques, and inspired me to do a lot of trial and error to learn what Q methods worked best for me.

These days I cook most everything on my Kettle grills or my WSM's, and lately I'm smoking more and more on the Kettle Grills just for the challenge. I cook a wide variety of things, and actually make it my goal to cook as much as possible outdoors on these cookers, especially in the summer. This summer in particular I have not turned on the stove or oven in...I guess months at this point.

I also moderate the Throwdown forum on this site. You should check it out if you are unfamiliar with it. It is under Q-Talk, and is titled "BBQ Brethren Throwdowns". It is a weekly themed cooking contest judged by the photos presented. It is a lot of fun, and is a great way to expand your cooking abilities by challenging yourself to meet the theme.

I don't compete in BBQ competitions, but have competed a handful of times in KCBS events (as a member/helper on a team in every case). I intended to compete, thus my logo and a bunch of equipment that I purchased, but life was directing me away from having the extra time and money for that hobby, and I even had to cancel a couple contests I was signed up for. Maybe when life settles down again I will compete, but for now I have fun just making Q for friends, family, and even their friends. Interestingly enough, I found this forum specifically due to my first ever comp, the 2006 Great American Barbecue contest in Kansas City, KS. I was told this forum had a lot of members attending, and they weren't kidding.

OK, now that you all know I exist, I hope to see you in Q-Talk soon! I have decided to try and make time for all of the Q-Talk posts (there are a lot of them).

You do realize that the rest of the whack-a-doodles are going to do their very best to gat this thread moved to the Woodpile. :heh:

You're gonna love it here - great place! :thumb:

...just wondering how long 'til "here" is WP...

I'm still not convinced that you aren't Bigzaro, the Bizzaro version of Bigabyte, and the real bigabyte is still over in the WP somewhere.

What color hair will Bizzaro Ginger have?
