I recognize a few of the grills, smokers and burners used on the show, but I don't know all of them. I thought if there was any group of people that could name (and link) all the equipment he uses, it would be here on BBQ Brethens.

I'll do the easy ones that I know.

- XL Big Green Egg http://www.biggreenegg.com/eggs_XL.html
- 22.5" Weber Smokey Mountain http://m.weber.com/grills/model/113
- 22.5" Weber Kettle http://m.weber.com/grills/model/106
- Cast Iron Hibachi Grill. I can't find manufacturer's website. Amazon.com: Cajun Cookware Grills Round Seasoned Cast Iron Hibachi Grill: Patio, Lawn & Garden@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51WUSA7myyL.@@AMEPARAM@@51WUSA7myyL

Can anyone else help complete the list?

I didn't see todays episode, but I have seen others and he always has a couple Weber Ranch Kettles sitting around.

Why? I've seen it done several times on shows, and it seems to work.

Bobby Flay is the real Deal I hear todays shoe i watched he cooked pork in a ex large Big Green Egg. located directly behind him was an upright black Weber smokey Mountain.
He cooked a flat bred pizza on a gas grill and made oysters Grilled as well

Is your point that paella shouldn't be cooked over direct heat, or it shouldn't be done that way on a BBQ show?

Maybe someone should tell these folks in Spain that they can't make paella over direct heat?

Um, paella is made in a pan over a fire, direct heat. Not usually on a t.v. show though. I have known several actual Spanish folks that made special paella grills for cooking their paella over a bunch of hot coals. Wait! Those were 'special needs' :becky:

Dangit, Ronelle beat me with the old simulpost gambit and his post had pictures!

What I'm trying to say is making paella on a BBQ show is bad advertisement, just like whenever you see an article about July 4th hot dogs calling it barbecue. I'm not saying that it's not delicious, or that Flay is an incredible chef and very successful, I'm saying it's further spreading the misinterperation that (at least I) am trying to break that anything on a grill is BBQ. It's a loose term, mind you, but c'mon, that's not close.

Has anyone been able to ID the santa maria style bbq he uses. I really like it, especially since it has a lid. I try and try, but cannot see the name or manufacturer.

Thanks

Pete

yea, i love it when they use $$$$$$$$$$$$$ grills. sure is great for those average guys out there with not much $$.
