Taylor Thermocouple and Infrared thermometer

I am looking at a Taylor Thermocouple and infrared thermometer. It's like a thermo-pen but has a infrared feature as well. Ace Mart has them for $65.00, through tomorrow. Anybody ever use one of these? Is it worth a try or am I just going to be throwing $$ away?

Mike,
IR measures surface temp only.
Not sure what value that would be to me.

I agree. Good for checking the AC vents in the house during the summer.
