Discussion Thread -> " Show Off Your Pies" Throwdown (Entries and Quality ON TOPIC *CLEAN* Discussion Only)

Wow, there are some absolutely mouthwatering entries already, and some very creative stuff. Mine is very boring in comparison, but I love quiche and have been craving some for awhile, so I used this throwdown as motivation to make myself some.

Simple Ingredients List:
-Eggs
-Half & Half
-Spice Rub
-Shredded Cheese
-Mustard Sauce
-Leftover Pulled Pork From A Smoked Pork Butt

I didn't have a pie pan, so I waited 'till my roommate went to work, then I borrowed his Deep Dish Pizza pan.

Beat the eggs, then mixed in the half & half, cheese & some spice rub. Mmm... Savory Custard:

Then took the leftover pulled pork, and tossed it in some mustard sauce(pic is pre saucing):

Then just pour the custard in:

And after cookin' some, gotta let it set:

Like I said earlier. Sheer brilliance fellers! But Jed. What the fark is that plate sitting on?!?

Guerry, I was wondering the same thing. I thought it was someone's head at first but it looks like it is part of the deck? :noidea:

Jed, great cook as usual! Enjoy your trip!

Traditional Chicken Pot Pie

Most of the ingredients..."most en place"

My wife was happy to help with the crust preparation.

I pre-cooked all of the vegetables and chicken. The Green beans were hiding in the foil.

Per-heated the CI skillet before adding the crust.

Added the filling that was pulled together on the stove with some added chicken broth, chicken drippings, flour and butter for a roux.

The top crust was put on and on the grill at 375* for about an hour. I turned the CI every 10-15 minutes to keep it from burning on the bottom.

Pulled and ready to slice.

Plated with a kale salad of grapes, feta and walnuts with a rice wine-citrus dressing. Please consider my photo below as my TD entry photo.

That is great. The CI is very cool. What a fabulous pie. I love the addition of the kale salad and grapes on the side. Please pass a plate over here........:clap2:

Meat Pie with a Twist.
My entry into the Pie Throwdown.
Gathered all the essentials together.
Pie base is made from 70% Pork and 30% beef sausage mince.
Filled with Spinach, Silverbeet and Cheese, topped with Egg.
Small pie had a Mushroom Lid fitted after initial bake.

Mushroom and Egg go on

Big pie came out smelling and looking pretty Good.

Proceeded to remove the Pie and dropped in the sink.

Close up of the pie base, worked pretty fine indeed.

Thankfully we had Backup.
