Was in Vegas over the weekend and decided to head over to Rub BBQ at the Rio Casino after a few hours at BassProShops. I've heard so much about the place I had to give it a whirl. Since I had ribs, pulled pork, and links the week prior for a big local BBQ, that left me with little choice other than what I really set out for.... brisket baybeee.
Sat at the bar for long enough to realize that I wasn't nearly as cute as the two chicks that the bartender was too occupied with to notice me sitting there. So I got up and decided to try my luck at a table. Walked past a woman who ordered a brisket platter and it looked lovely, better than she did
Sat down, told the hostess about my admiration for BBQ, how I've heard much about Rub, and for them to show me what they got. I sent texts to a few brothers to let them know I was there. Poobah took a little too long to respond suggesting naked burnt ends. Other brothers quickly responded showing their jealousy.
Being that I wasn't too hungry and had dinner plans, I ordered a sammich, onion straws, a local pale ale, and she allowed me to sample the beans. The brisket was yummy, possibly a 'hint' on the dry side and less smoke flavor than the beans which were loaded with smoke. BBQ sauce was a little thick for my liking, a bit much in tomato flavor, not much hoochie coochie hot in the spicy sauce.
So for $13.75 the sammich with one side fell a little short on expectations. Wish Poobah responded a little earlier - maybe I needed those ends. When I get back to Sin City Ill give it another try.
