I saw this on the KCBS event page. It's 15 minutes from us but we're already committed to the Sam's Local in South Bend, IN.

I've exchanged e-mails with the organizer and they have upgraded from a rib competition to a full, 4 meat KCBS competition this year.

$5000 prize pool. The entry fee is $200 which includes the entry fee, health department fee, water & electric and insurance.

Competitors are allowed to sell their meat.

The web site is being built, but some information is available at

http://www.ribsontheriver.com/

The application is available off of the web site or at this link...

Sam's is always in your way Ron!!! ;)

Damn, I might have to come out of semi-retirement. Especially now that all the local big hitters will be at Sam's.....

If you are interested in this competition, what are your thoughts on selling ribs (2 bones for $3) or any of your meat? They are trying to gauge the interest. They have had the backyard guys sell ribs in the past and it has gone well.

I couldn't see doing both selling and competing. To sell what we have left over, sure but to compete and have an idea of vending at the same time would be crazy.
