I use kbb in my kettle still but I've noticed that when I'm doing cooks in my wsm's I get a better smoke ring with the lump than the kbb. I'm not using water in the pan either. When I used to use water and kbb I'd get decent rings but they really dissipated when using kbb and no water.

I also use the bottom grate from my wsm 18" inside the charcoal ring of the wsm 22" to keep the smaller pieces from falling through.

I get weekend warrior from ACE for my lump. Great stuff.

I can absolutely taste the difference between KBB and lump on long cooks in the smoker.

I have no shame in buying KBB if Im just doing some camping or quick grilling.

Embarassed that I was one of the guys buying 900lbs during the sales of KBB. a test of the soil behind my garage would come up as 60% KBB, 30% urine, and 10% soil.

Couldn't have said it better, maybe a Minnesota thing!
