Howdy guys! I am brand new here in this forum. I've been seriously smoking meat for about 6 years and grilling for a long time. I also drive and restore vw's. I like to bbq and camp. My problem is I am looking for a portable quality propane bbq that I can take camping. I have had several cheap portable bbqs and I am over them. I am looking for recommendations for something good that will last a long time. I like to bbq elaborate meals while outside. I camp very often, I tend to eat better in the woods than in the house. I have been looking at the Magma style grills and the kuuma, but I hear you can't cook with the kuuma's lid closed. I have a charcoal smokey Joe, I love it but have propane hooked up to all my vw's so I want to eliminate the need to carry extra charcoal. I am ok with spending some money of the product is good and will last many years. the criteria I have for the grill is: has to be propane, has to be able to hook up to a bigger bomb (not only the green disposables), must have a constant temp throughout the grill, and be portable.
For some background on the grills I have at my house: a older holland classic, Modified Weber smoker (red), and the green charcoal weber.
I am looking for some good info from you guys. Thanks a bunch. pics or links would also be appreciated. I know you guys have some good set ups, lt's hear them.

I am not that fond of the Q. I have used it once. It's pretty bulky to pack. I have looked at the marine style grills, so that I can possibly slow cook on them. I was hoping you guys would chime in with something I would love. I looked at the:
toolboxbbq http://www.bbq-tools.com/tool_box_grill.html but people said it has a very uneven cooking temperature,
the kuuma grills http://www.kuumagrills.com/ but you can't cook with the lid closed because of flare ups.
the magma trailmate: http://www.rivermarinesupply.com/xc...railMate_Connoisseur_Series_Grill_A10801.html I haven't used one or heard reviews on it. I am leaning towards this one
the holland companion: http://www.hollandgrill.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/products.detail/prodID/2/index.htm high dollar
ideas, reviews anything thanks

Bump, any suggestions. I'm getting antsy for a new portable grill.
Thanks

sorry paul b, not my fault. I have a bigger holland and love it, I may look into that smaller one. I wish I knew someone who had one for me to cook on. I know with the bigger one, it takes a long time for burgers and let's say brats, is the smaller one any quicker. I know it's not really a fast grill, but the occasional quick burger? Iknow I can't have my cake and eat it too. So many choices. I would love to hear your post.

I meant to say I lost the post I was writing to you...it went to the great internet gods.....

I don't have a holland but I have eaten food cooked on one. It was at the Orlando BBQ Trade show a while ago. I don't really know how fast it is as the food was already cooked. If I hadn't already bought an Auspit ( www.auspit.com ) and a see threw propane tank:thumb: I might have sprung for the small holland. I have a portable TEC inferred and use it quite a bit but don't really like it that much. Wish I had gotten something else. Inferred is a whole nuther way of grilling and takes some gettin use to. You can't close the lid on it(I do sometimes to melt the cheese on burgers). It is a quick way to cook dinner to keep the heat out of the kitchen. Although with a weed burner (I have one) I can get my smokey joe up and running in about 5 minutes.

Oh, and I really like SS stuff............
