Sour milk biscuits were a staple during pioneer days. NPS Ranger handed out recipes during tour of McBride House/McBride Canyon. My "Bride" made those sour milk biscuits this morning. Outstanding taste & texture and nothing like those pop can biscuits.

When we had milk that was starting to go, we made pancakes with it, worked fine with no off taste....

I know that sour milk and buttermilk are NOT the same thing...mainly since I just read it. But in my cheat sheet of ingredient substitutions, I have 1 cup of buttermilk = 1 cup milk plus 1 tbs vinegar. Been making biscuits with that for years... (rarely have buttermilk on hand)

Poor woman slaves at the stove making biscuits from scratch for you, and she is still stuck at bride status.
