• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I went to Winn Dixie yesterday--they have (had) pineapples for $2.50.
They had maybe 25 to 30 on display, no problem. I go back to meat section and order 20# of Eye of the Round sliced up for Jerky. I'll be back in 2 hours or so when I get done with other errands.
Come back--check pineapples--6 left! FARK!
Ask produce guy--he says probably last ones for a long time.
So--I bought them all!
I tell Mrs Kapn I bought 6 Pineapples and she is, well she is, well--nevermind

These suckers are Dole Tropical Gold and so sweet and juicy you can smell them across the room.

Dressed them out today.
About 4 into the dehydrator for later freezing.
About 1.5 in the frig for current use.
Missing .5????????
In my tummy!
Dehydrator is about 6 ft from my desk here--smells Heavenly in here

We have one pineapple plant rooted and it is doing well.
6 more tops go in the planters on Tuesday when they have "hardened".

Like Alton Brown says--"Good Eats" and the price was great.

Nice dehydrator, Tim. What brand is it?

The pineapples look yummy. I can almost smell them from here!

Excalibur 2500.

When I bought it a couple of years ago--Mrs Kapn called it the Binford 2500
If I did it again, I would buy the 2900 model.

Tropical Gold is about as good as it gets for Pineapple!

I can't count how many times I tried to get a top to root.
Never had any luck. Must be a secret.

I didn't know anyone dehydrated pineapples. I was going to ask a stupid question like "what does it taste like", then I realized it would have to taste just like dehydrated pineapples - so I ain't gonna ask that now.

The wife is always buying dehydrated pineapples and other mixes for the kids. They love the stuff and so do I.

Normally the only time we get pineapple is around Christmas time. I always buy some pineapples, oranges, grapefruit, etc to put around the tree and it makes the house smell sooooo good.

I did get a couple of them a few weeks back for my habanero/pineapple jelly. Was going to just use canned but I figured if I was using fresh peppers, I might as well use fresh fruit, right?

Fresh Pineapple just can't be beat.
