We started using 2 Traeger Texas Elite's and a 22" WSM for competitions this year opposed to all WSM previously. I love the product we can put out with a WSM but it is waaaay more work to manage, adjust, and clean then the pellet smokers for what turns out to be slightly different but same quality product. We've done very well with them because as the others have said, the amount of smoke you are getting is just a small part of the overall product. You need a great recipe that you can make consistently to do well competitively.
