Hey folks,

I'm a swedish journalist - and I'm working on a project, that may one day become a book (and magazine pieces as I go) about the origins and culture of American BBQ.

I'm planning a trip to Austin starting next week, and I will be looking for places and people that tell the story of BBQ in Texas. Ideally I don't want to go to the very famous places, but am more interested in colorful characters and old school roadside joints.

If you have any suggestions about where to go and who to meet - please let me know!

I appreciate any pointers!

Cheers

Chris

PS Is there any equivalent of the whole hog when it comes to beef? I suppose if I were to find it anywhere it would be in Texas - right? But maybe that would be too crazy/big even for Texas?
