Newbie 1st smoke and I blame all of you

I am new to smoking and was wondering what a Fatty is? And the one you made sounds great!
 
There definitely is something about this BBQ thing that grabs you and doesn't want to let go. Is it some primal connection between man, meat, and fire? Is it the community of BBQers that comes with the hobby/lifestyle? I don't know the answer, but I'm enjoying the search for it.
