Hello everybody and happy smoking. First off I want to thank Jeffry1970 for all his help. He provided me with a number of tips that lead to me having a successful smoke.

After much research and saving a few dollars I purchased a meadow creek bx50 along with the guru for it. The smoker is a beast and while so far I only used it once I'm very happy with it. Although using the guru will take a little getting use to. (More on that later)

For my first smoke on it, I smoked 4 pork butts, 3 racks of ribs and a brisket. I fired up the smoker around 10pm and of course at about 10:15 the thunderstorm started. Luckily I set up the canopy so I didn't get to soaked.

The problem I ran into was with the temperature reading on the guru. I have used a maverick wireless thermometer for years so I set that up along with the guru. The guru was reading about 30° lower then the maverick. I thought maybe it would even out eventually but after an hour or so it still hadnt. So I decided to disconnect everything and bring it inside. The temperature in my house was set to 70°. However all the probes came no where near that at first. I don't remember exactly what they were reading but I figured I found out my problem. After a few minutes the probes all read the same thing. I hooked up everything back in the smoker and the rest of the smoke went smooth.

The brisket was a ltitle on the dry side. I think a lot of that has to do with it being on the bottom rack and it was probably cooking way north of 225°

If you made it this far, thanks for reading. Im doing another smoke this weekend and ill get some pictures up.

Thanks everybody. Apparently I did take these pictures during the first smoke. But I'll take more this time.

You are going to love that thing It is a beast and hold temps nice. Strong winds can cause temp problems I may cook the food faster do to the steam I wish I could justify one- even the smaller one
