Does anyone have a reasonable source for mail order Apple Wood chunks? Of course the catch is paying shipping, which kills the overall cost.

Locally, I only have access to Hickory and I am sick, sick, sick of it.

I needs me some Apple!

Any help is much appreciated.

I have a Gander about an hour away. Are you sure they have chunks (and not chips). The only other option I have heard was a Cabellas and I don't have access to one of those.

These days, gas for an hour drive is about the same as shipping...
so true. the 1 here had chunks last time i was there. you could always call first & ask.

Do It Best Hardware has a ship to store option where you don't pay shipping. You order online, it is shipped to store that has the ship to store option (not all of them do). They then call you when it arrives and you go pick it up without paying shipping. They do have them in you area. 10 lb. bags of apple and cherry chunks are around $8.30.

Edit: Woops, Motley Que beat me to the punch. :-D

I've gotten some outstanding deals on e-Bay. Search barbecue smoking wood. Most sellers use the flat rate shipping boxes from the PO, which are $10 & $14. If you catch them right you can bid less than $5.

You can also check Ebay.com out I recently ran across this cat that had sugar maple sassafrass, apple, hickory, and also cherry woods!!!!!If you have an ebay account just search any one of the woods that are popular to smoke with as I did, and the search engine over at Ebay.com will guide you to him!!!! Hope this helps ya!!!! Peppa!!!!
