That was very interesting, thanks for sharing! My grandfather used to make his own charcoal for both their metal shop and his smoked meats... Man I loved his smoked ham... I think that was one of the things that got me to love this hobby so much. Anyone wanting to taste my childhood can whip up a batch of buckboard bacon (see other threads here for how-to) That's about as close as I can get to his work.
