I already know the answer, but please confirm it for me...

Slightly “spoiled” beef that is then fully cooked does not cause food poisoning. The bad flavor is the biggest risk, which is why various cultures developed highly seasoned/spiced recipes, but the beef in this story was probably still well short of that point.

Food poisoning is awful, but in general, this forum does not have a very good understanding of what does and does not cause it.
 
They are fine. Had no funky smell at all when opened. Checked with a friend that had gone in that fridge earlier in the night and the light was on then. It's an older fridge, and the garage was close to 100*, so the drop in temp really wouldn't take as long as expected.

I did invest in a couple temp / humidity sensors from Amazon. One for that fridge and one for the other freezer. This model wasn't cheap, but it will message me on my iPhone if the temp gets out of range. Figure it's worth it.

Well worth the peace of mind. Keep the batteries up.

I went low tech. I'm in and out of my garage enough that the one time my chest freezer was off, it was still frozen. No loss.

Use your own discretion on the meat. I'd cook it.
You could do a tiny test cook on the stovetop to check it that way. :rolleyes:
