Help with Pit Probe

At the moment I can find the spring great clip for my Thermoworks pit probe. I know it is not suppose to touch the grate. Suggestions?

I drilled a hole through 2 small pieces of wood. Insert the probe through them, and it holds it above the grate. I just keep them in the box with my thermo stuff, and use as needed.

Foil works just as good, but I don't have anything to throw away, now.

Drill a hole throught a wooden clothes pin. Clip the pin on the grate.

I have used a cork with a small hole drilled in it.
