This says hamburger but any ground meat will work

Stay warm,

Brown 1 lb of hamburger, salted and peppered..
Once done remove grease if any, add 1-2 tablespoon flour, cook into meat well, add roasted and peeled green chile** 3 cups chicken broth, salt, pepper, and garlic powder to your liking...bring to a hard boil, lower heat and simmer..

**Amount of Green Chile is your call

I have but it's been a stretch. The Bride likes green chile Stew with oregano, cumin, small cubes of pork. The basics are similar but taste is quite different. We make her version most often.

Next time my "green chile" itch needs to be scratched, I will give it a whirl. If I wanted it to to be more filling, do you think that cubed potatoes and mixed vegetable would be good additions or would they take too much away from the simplicity of the dish?

The Three Sisters - corn, beans and squash
Potato fits nicely

All are present in southwest and American Indian cooking, often

Personally I think you're additions sound awesome
