I just got a pretty good deal on a smokey joe last night. It was posted 20 mins from me, and for ten bucks- what the hey- i figured it would be good for steaks and burgers and such. Problem is, the handle is a little loose and definitely needs some touching up.

Is there a finishing product (minwax maybe) you can recommend to take care of it?

i just sand them and then put some mineral oil on the wood. or you can sand, stain with a wood deck stain and seal with some outdoor spar varnish. turns out nice.

I sanded mine down, and actually dipped them in a good exterior stain. They really soaked in the stain.
