I have been craving that dish since the weather started getting cooler, and now it is multiplied 10 fold. That looks great and I will be cooking mine very soon.
Im pretty sure its an Eastern US food. Its a very common PA Dutch food. Along with Chicken Pot Pie's. Not to be confused with chicken soup with bow tie noodles. I hate that blasphemy.
It was an interesting watch. I've never had a chicken go completely fall off the bones after an hour- I may have to let mine go a tad further next pot.
I know that drop dumplings are popular. My mom's family made "drop" style. My dad's mom rolled hers thin - called it a "slick" dumplin' - and I learned from her... and they rock.
