I was glad to see he added the filé only to his bowl and not the whole pot.

I could see eating some July 4th gumbo- I can eat hot dogs and burgers ANY day.

I like file` ok- but I'd rather go for a slightly lighter roux and let it do my thickening with the help of some okra.

That's that's pretty loose gumbo. That file at the end is not thickening much at that point, it's a seasoning- and I'm ok with that.

I'd eat it- like the man said "everyone makes it different-everyone"
