A dear friend sent a pic of his bacon maple glazed Long John breakfast the other morning. I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I just made my own!
Made my dough first, let it rise for one hour...
Divided the dough in half, rolled each out and cut ...
I let these rise until doubled. About 30 minutes..
Then fried til golden..
Made a glaze using brown sugar, maple syrup, maple extract, 1/2 and 1/2 and a pinch of salt..
Dipped the Long Johns while they were warm..
Crumbled some crisp bacon and decided to go with cashews and pecans too..
Everybody got a shot of crisp bacon first...
Then I added cashews to some and pecans to a couple others...
I've made plenty of donuts in the past but for some reason hadn't made Long Johns. I really, really liked these. I'll be doing this again in the near future!
