Do you use anything to catch the ash at the bottom of your FB? Like a pan or something? I'm just thinking is there a need to empty ash during a long cook?

My fireboxes all have an ash pan, but I do not empty it until after the cook is over and the smoker has cooled. Even with 24 hour pig cooks the ash pan will hold all of the ashes.

On my cookers the ash pans seem to be designed to keep the cooker clean and make clean-up easier.
