Enjoyed some Hawaiian Huli Huli chicken, pork belly, sausage, cucumber salad and grilled bananas with a caramelized brown sugar glaze as my wife and I ventured up the road to Hana yesterday. All food at this little stop is cooked over Kiawe wood... which is “Hawaiian Mesquite”. It has a more mild flavor profile (a bit sweeter) than the mesquite we would use on the mainland. Lunch was served on leaves (I think banana) and then placed on a split piece of bamboo. Another fun BBQ lunch! The scenery sure did make it easy to walk off the calories… lol!

Great looking food and the scenery is spectacular!!! The road to Hana is a great day, have been there twice and loved it each time. The road has many places to eat, bbq, banana bread, fruits etc.
Thanks for sharing!!!!
