Good afternoon, Brethren!

In your opinion, what is the best fuel for cold weather smoking - regular briquettes,, hardwood briquetttes or lump?

Let me know your thoughts.

Go Steelers!!!

Thanks,

Mel

I use all natural hardwood briquettes (Stubbs) & bury a few wood splits in the charcoal box.

I've never had a problem with either, but I suppose if it came down to a battle of extremes, like crazy extremes, since lump burns hotter it would eventually win in some sort of extreme cold matchup.

If I'm looking for heat and i'm working alone then its Ballantines but if I'm feeding the neighbors- its JD

If you're talking about the smoker-
I only cook on a kettle, Barrel or an Egg I only use Maple leaf or blue Royal Oak lump

I have found Royal Oak to burn hotter than most.:clap2:

Hey Mel.. What are you cooking on? That would make a difference. For me, the best fuel in cold weather is pellets since my FEC-100 is insulated :-D
