Hey - that's quite something. Really.
I am not slamming, just asking.
Allow me to repeat that...
This is not to throw rocks, I just wish to understand.
Why would you go to all of that trouble with such an inefficient unit as opposed to
finding another bbq that doesn't have the problems of the brinkman, in the first place?
Again, this is curiosity not criticism.
In fact my hat is off to you for your skills. I don't have the know-how to do what you've done. So, I bloody well won't slam you for doing it. Just trying to figure out why.
Thanks...be well

It was inefficient for sure and that is why I changed it. I actually found the smoker in the trash. I worked on it a few nights after work and it seems to do OK now. It held 250dg all day yesterday and with the new baffle it holds the same temp from side to side.
Here is a picture from the test burn Friday night.

The worst part about this smoker was it was small and you could only use half of the cooking space. Anywhere near the fir box before would actually cook the meat.

I am planning on building a new one but this will do for the time being.

Another reason I fixed this one up is because poor people have poor ways:rolleyes::becky::-D

Welcome brother come in grab a beer and relax and shoot the breeze for a bit, it’s all good in the neighborhood

Welcome Johnny and I love the story and the mods on your smoker.:clap2::clap2::clap2: Check out the Midwest Bash thread and join us next month in Lawrence. You don't even need to bring a smoker as there will be plenty of them there to use.

Welcome aboard Johnny, enjoy what you learn and share what you know, it's what we do here.

Thanks for making me feel at home.

I have been reading that uds thread for three days now. I couldn't take it anymore and went and picked up three barrels today. Going down to the shop right now to start removing the liner.

I am building on for me and one for my brother-in-law. I will snap some pictures as I go and start a thread.

Thanks again we'll see you on the board:thumb:

I will check that out, that sounds like something I would enjoy
