Hello my name is Weldon and I have a problem

Well, after my last smoker I thought I was done, I already have plenty of grills and smokers and really didn't need it but then my wife made a statement that she wanted to get a cowboy grill after watching Pioneer Woman, her husband cooks on a Santa Maria type grill. Well, I took this as a chance to get a grill, so long story short I received a Sunterra 36 inch Santa Maria grill for my birthday a couple months ago. I know I have a sickness, I am already thinking about what I might get next....

How much do you use the vent controls on the doors? I get that opening or closing them could slightly affect how.kuch oxygen gets to the fire, but does it really make that much of a difference.

Hello Weldon.. I too have a problem! I think we all have the same problem being members of this forum! Its contagious!... That's amazing I bet having a grill like that will be awesome to use! I like to cook on an open fire pit. I'm in the dog house as it is because of my problem.. I just added a pellet cooker to my arsenal of cookers! I'm now up to 5 cookers.. LOL

I just leave them fully open. I guess if I closed them it could dampen the fire some.

Thanks everyone! It has been awesome cooking over an open fire. Great flavor.

And as far as the tractor....it's a good thing that I have it or I don't think I could have gotten this thing put on the cart. It's HEAVY. 550 lb shipping weight and probably less than 100 lbs of crate. I could hardly budge it off of the pallet and onto the forks...and I'm a big guy, over 6 foot and over 260 lbs. I'd suggest anyone that doesn't have a tractor or about 6 friends lined up that you have them pre-assemble which they offer for free but cost more to ship.

Lol, yep she is awesome. I think she is still trying to make up for my 40th birthday a couple of years ago when she let me adopt a dog then made me give him back a couple weeks later. I always wanted an English Bulldog and she said "against her better judgment" she would let me adopt one and she if found one with a local adoption agency. The problem is it got on her nerves, and even though she didn't exactly make me give him back she took her frustration out on me, lol

I follow Dski Grillz on YT and he uses a Sunterra 48" Santa Maria grill on a lot of his cooks. It's definitely a neat cooker. Your cooks look great.
