Yes its possible. This is for you just who dont want to or cant afford a more expensive setup.

I have put this system together, I have 2 of them.

First you need this

Here is what my setup looks like, the only mod I did to the smoker was add a charcoal grate. This setup is simple and works great.

The pics show the cooker assembled, and with the upper part taken off to show the coals, and how easy it is to check them. And you dont lose hardly and heat this way. It looks like the wire is draped on the coals in the pic, I can assure you its not LOL

They have that model on sale at my Lowes for $48.00. I almost bought it to cannibalize it for my UDS but it wasn't big enough.
 
Cool setup and cheap too.

I've considered the same setup for my drum(for longer cooks). I do like the price of the fan/controller.
 
On the temp controller do you use the 6.5 or the 20 cfm option?
