Barrowing ideas from BBQ

It's cold up here in New England and I've got my fire going. The most recent batch of wood isn't the driest and tonight I had a great idea. I was thinking about how some people warm their next split for their offset by placing it on top of the firebox. I decided to try something similar in my fireplace and it worked like magic! The new logs get pretty dry sitting next to the fire and when it's their turn to hop on it there's no water or steam coming out. Just goes to show the skills of BBQ can become life skills
