Newbie here that joined a few years back and only lurked until now. I am wanting to build a octagon shape charcoal grill 24"wide x 36" long to mount onto a trailer next to the reverse flow smoker I am going to build also to mount on trailer. My question is what size metal should I use? Been thinking either 10(.135") gauge or 8(.179") gauge. Any and all opinions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If you can get 7gauge(3/16") that would be the minimum IMO and will last a lifetime provided you keep the ash cleaned out, 1/4" even better for holding heat and fire management. As Hoss aid thicker is better.
