I wasn't in the market for a WSM, or any smoker/cooker for that matter, but last night as my wife and I were watching some TV and she was playing on her phone she says, "Someone's selling some Weber grill thing on the local Facebook Flea Market site for $50." Never one to pass up a deal I took a look at the item for sale...

Once I saw it was a WSM, that appeared to be in good condition, I had her instantly reply, and as of today I'm the proud owner of a lightly used 18.5" WSM. My wife arranged the sale via PM on FB, and I got the WSM for $40  With that price, and the fact it was a Back Porch Pick-up, where I left the cash in the requested hiding spot, and I took the WSM with no human interaction, it REALLY feels like I stole this thing...

Overall it appears to be in great condition. The heat shield is a little bent, but after a few minutes in fit on. I'm sure I can straighten it even more. It also came with a little attachment for a vent that my Guru fits into, although I intend on running it without the help of a fan...

Not sure what is more shocking, the nice find on the WSM or the fact my wife, who already thinks I'm crazy with 8 cookers here already, helped me get #9...

Now I just need to do a little research on temp control for this thing...

Thanks for looking...

nice score! the wife only complains so you don't go crazy and get 3 at a time.

Well done. That is a steal at $40.

I hate FB but my wife turned me on to FB Marketplace and there is a ton of BBQ stuff for sale on there. It's insanely more active than my local Craiglist and has everything from kettles to WSMs to commerical trailer smokers to BBQ wood. You can even set up alerts to get notified if any new items match your search criteria and the notification/messaging system works really well.

Destiny will not be denied!

You'll have a lot of great cooks offa that - the WSM is mighty thang!

No human interaction at all...how do you know someone didn't just sell you their neighbor's WSM?

Well I guess I don't...

There was interaction to make the deal. It was advertised as a Porch Pick-up in the add, which a lot of people do when they are not going to be home and want the item gone. Considering the type of neighborhood, MUCH richer than my section of town, it's doubtful anyone is going to these lengths for $40. Maybe an evil prank on their neighbor, but not for $40.

Probably too much info, but prior to the pick-up I did notify my good friend who's a police officer in the area in case there were calls of a burglary in progress at the address...

That worries me. My neighbors to the back of me are vegetarians, so if anyone finds a deal like that at my house, just keep looking.

Does not get any better Great score! That looks just like my party-Q adapter. Man, It's the only way I go now on my WSM for brisket on overnight cooks. Rock solid temp control!

On edit, you might want to aim the center of the adapter opening at the 8'oclock position as the fan stokes the coals with a light vortex action that keeps ignition even.
