I would not invest in the prime again. As I said, it's such a lean cut anyway. I did not see any increase in tenderness or flavor over a choice.

But it was still tasty with a baked potato, and we will have some fine sandwiches today.

I get choice tri tips here from Ralphs (Kroger) with better marbling than primes that I bought both from Creekstone and Costco. I'm with you. On average $5/lb even with current pricing since they go on sale every other week. Tri tip to Cali is like brisket to Tx.

Oh man does that look good. I haven't cooked one yet this year. You've made me buy some for this weekend and beyond.

Our local Albertson's and Von's has them on sale this week starting tomorrow for $4.77 a pound. At that price, I will pick up two. One to cook now and one for the freezer...
