I'm a man of very large appetite. That said, I cast my vote for cooking both why the smoker is hot.
 
I'm with SGH. If I'm going to be firing up the smoker, and the temps are close... I might as well put a couple of different items on at the same time! (I think that's one of the reasons The Fatty was invented).

I also say cook both.

Pig shots will be done long before the ribs so you can have them for a lunch/snack/appetizer and the ribs for dinner.

The best part is the leftovers..
