Virgin journey went OK but butt did not pull. Why?

If no thermometer available..........like Myron Mixon said.....if the bone pulls out of the butt cleanly......its done.
 
Would y'all do briskets the same way?
I guess chuck roasts would be done also the same way.

Like everyone said--cook it longer.
"buttery" feel on a probe or a bone that slides free are the best indicators.
Temp will normall be 195-205, but feel is the key.
