Taped up the body of the drum and sprayed the white body coat. Still have some touch ups to do, and then add all the details. Finally starting to really look like R2. Because the base is not the same proportions as the real R2, and also there are no legs, I choose to use a little artistic license with the panel layout.

Did a little more painting today, but the rest has to wait until the existing paint fully cures. Just too soft, and some of the detail paint was causing the base paint to wrinkle. So I will let it bake out in the sun for a couple of days.
I also installed the water-tight wire coupling in the drum to act as the bulkhead for the thermo wires. Lastly I built the fire basket...3/4" expanded metal welded to the fire grate from a 18.5 weber.Just need to get an ash pan for the bottom.
