Hi guys Jason here from New Zealand, after watching all the seasons of BBQ Pit Masters, BBQ Crawl and BBQ Pit Wars then hours of you-tube videos on how to build a UDS and smoke pork, beef and chicken, I set myself a summer project to build a UDS.
Its almost done with painting to start today. The one thing I'm really not sure about is how hot the exterior of the drum will get as I've got a sweet Jim Beam tin sign for the front of if but I don't want to put it on if its going to get so hot that the paint melts off.
I was thinking of putting a couple of spacers between the drum and the sign so there was about a inch or 2.5cm air gap.
Once done I'll be doing ribs mostly but also chicken and pork.
Can anyone tell me if this is sufficient or how hot its likely to get?
Thanks Jason
