Does Turbinado sugar taste different in a rub than just 90% white sugar and 10% brown sugar (or some ratio like that)?

I usually do not use white sugar because it is much easier to burn. Instead, I typically use turbinado and brown sugar.

but the crystals are too large for my liking.

I run my turbinado through a spare coffee grinder at coarsest setting. It gets the granules smaller for ease of mixing in rubs etc.
