Just got a load of cherry splits yesterday. Paid 45.00 for a full pickup truck. I guess that is a good price. Let me if it is not. It is a lot more than it looks like in the pics.



That's a great price. Could pay a lot more for a truck load & would still think I gotta great deal.

When I was at Mixon's place last Fall he suggested that fruit woods need to be used green as opposed to seasoned. I have a turkey on the stickburner today and am using some wild cherry for the first time, it seems reasonably seasoned to me.

The smoke is pretty sooty right now (base of lump and a few sticks of oak to get the pit up to temp). I preheated the splits on the box and it is burning hot, just sooty out the exhaust.

Thoughts?
