THE Shirley Fabrication Photo Thread

Posting this for Bearded Bass Guy since he apparently broke up with the Brethren!

^^^ that's awesome! I can't remember the last time I saw a Shirley that was built from a propane tank much less unpainted.

I've been wondering about him. Bass players are cool. I must have scared him off at the only bash he attended. [emoji1787]

Amazing! There’s just something about that rustic patina tank that is so appealing. Gotta imagine that Paul and Tyler make a helluva build in that style!

Brand new SF elevated cabinet is a whole different beautiful!

One day I’ll have a SF!

That thing is pretty bad a$$. Would love to see how it cooks though. I know those Shirley boys know their way around a RF cooker, but this is only the second direct flow cooker I've seen from them. Wonder how it stacks up against guys that specialize in direct flow?

I like it! I'm guessing that anything much bigger than a 42 might need 2 doors. Have you seen a 50 or 55 with a single door?

Is it just me? I don't understand why they take round pipe and then make a square smoker out of it...

You would need to have Paul Shirley respond to be certain, but I imagine it has to do with the fact that "most" Shirley's are reverse flows and the round bottom helps the transfer of heat/smoke from firebox to the opposite end of the Cook Chamber since the reverse flow plate (a solid piece of steel) ends about 5-6" from the end of the pipe, at least on my 24x36, that is the setup.

Also, it probably doesn't hurt that Paul works at an Oil Refinery in Tuscaloosa and there is likely a supplier of New 24" and 30" diameter pipe nearby.
