...is making the most out of it at home.
I couldt make it to Lynchburg this year but a couple of buddys were able to hop over the pond to compete there.
So i invited some friends over for a nice weekend of good eats and fine Whiskey.
We started of with some Brisket Chili, cooked in the Dutch Oven on the Big Green Egg. I cooked a couple of imported american beef brisket flats a couple of weeks ago and froze one of those to use it in this Texas Style Chili.
I served it with some chopped red onions, grated 2 years old cheddar and chopped cilantro. Awesome stuff !
I also put a pork neck and american beef brisket flat on the XL egg early in the morning with Hickory and Cherry wood and sprayed it with Jack Daniels and Coke every now and then..
By the way, somehow i screwed up the camera settings and didnt notice cause i was basicly hammered the whole weekend... sorry for the poor pics...
Heres the finished Brisket Flat
Thanks to the Live Stream at Wiredbbq.com we were with our buddys in Lynchburg. If this is the future i think i love it !
Heres the Pulled Pork, served on buns with creamy cole slaw and Sweet Baby Rays Honey Chipotle sauce.
For the ceremony we switched too the big screen.
Unfortunately our buddys didnt do too well, but hey - its learning by burning right ? I know they had their fun and made lots of friends and experiences.
After the awards it was 2.30 am and since weve been cooking and ...um... sampling fine imported beverages since noon it was time to call ita night - only to dream about what was to come for breakfast ( at noon...)
I got some Wagyu Beef Burger pattys from Australia, about 7 ounces each.
Served them with some chipotle mayonaise, roasted pancetta, 2 yrs old cheddar and just a little bit of ketchup on specially ordered buns.
had some potatoe wedges with chipotle sour cream and the delicious cole slaw as sides.
Needless to say those burgers were out of this world !
One of my friends who came over owns a company that builds american Diners and furniture over here. When i bought my house in spring, the first thing i did was have a talk with him about "Don Marco´s Diner".
Well, he brought the stuff with him this weekend and heres it is !
Reservations are now open !
After all i think we really made the most about not being in Lynchburg, TN - but we also made plans to definately go there 2012 for the 23rd Jack Daniels Invitational Barbecue.
Hope to see you there !
So long
