So I ordered two of these thermometers for my new grill and I can't find the washers and nuts that will work. does anybody have a clue of what the exact size washer and nut is compatible with this thermometer? Is it coarse thread or smooth? I had no idea that they had a proprietary nut and washer specific for this thermometer I looked online and they have the mounting kit and it's $12.99 for just one washer and one nut! Right now I'm at Ace hardware and I am pissed off :(

Check their electrical aisle. I've used 3/4" electrical jam nuts to hold 3/4" black pipe elbows- so the 1/2" should fit "ok" - maybe NOT perfect- but it's not $9.00 either.

So I went to Ace hardware and I found a somewhat flat nut that is npt 5/8. The sad thing is they only had one of these nuts I've called around to surrounding Ace hardware's and nobody has it. Half inch definitely does not fit it is 5/8. And it's considered threaded pipe measurements

npt 5/8? No brother.

what I was talking about is called a 1/2 in. Rigid Conduit Locknut ... that *should* fit your 1/2" npt threading on your thermo. and ACE should have packs and packs of them

good luck on your hunt.
