Usually just use rub and let the ribs sit out for atleast a half hour, but I've also used mustard and have been very happy with my results.

The last cook I used sriracha as a base and added the rub. It was amazing....added a new layer of heat. I used a sweet rub on top.....amazing (saw Sparky do it here first)
