Getting the right size and right way up is for another day
 
Since getting the big cookers up to temp is a job in itself, Would it work to put a 1/2 sheet pan right in the cook chamber with a 3/4 chimney of lump just to get the main chamber hot?

Then start the fuel in the lower unit

Looks like adding HOT water will really cut down on that
time you need to get it to temp

I am going to try many different things with this

Them Southern Gents are running with em dry

I will be building a U shaped charcoal basket 1st thing
 
Have not bought my DigiQ II yet, but I had Jay mount the adapter - look right between the intakes - it is standing at attention......

Thanks for the pic. I am a Guru/Stoker newbie, I assume that you leave the vents closed and let the draft fan do its thing? Can you tell me what the extra charge is to have the adapter mounted?
