Just to supply an option to building your own basket, here is a pic of the basket I use. 14" round fryer basket off amazon and cut off the handles. Works great for ash cleanup and allows more consolidation of the coals and chunks and still runs 12+ hours.

Like I said, I'm the least handy guy on earth haha. What did you use to cut the handle off? Thanks!

Love my Akorn. I usually start a small fire with a few lit briqs over the lump Ana it gets rolling from there. The cotton ball trick is good too. 80 bucks is a steal!
