Smoking a 40lb pig

Question. Has anyone rotated a pig in the smoker?
Seems my shoulders are cooking quicker (obviously since the snout is pointing to fire box)
Im thinking of rotating my pig so the hams cook quicker.

Long story short......near fire box....im running 30 degrees hotter near fire box
 
Went ahead and made an executive decision to rotate my pig.......hams are near the fire box.....

Hams are coming up in temp....
Im running my smoker at 290 at the firebox end
230 near the stack

Its been a while since ive cooked in my big pit....should have baught those tuning plates.....
 
I recently rotated pig due to same issue although my IT temp differences werent as high. Depending on stall on shoulders may want to wrap hams to bring them up quicker while shoulder in stall. That way you can plan get them done same time

I rotate from end to end too. Then cover ears, nose, head with foil to keep from darkening too much.
It's looking delicious!
